Do these have to be mounted to a rail to work or do the wire go directly into the holder and I can secure with mounting tape?
There are terminals/screws at each end. The way the backside is shaped to mount on rail would make it a difficult surface for any foam tape. Also they snap closed pretty tight so it would likely rip off the mounting surface when you open them.
